Gingerbread has a long and storied history.  In fact, it may have been the inspiration for the witch's house in Hansel and Gretel.  In this episode, we discuss types of gingerbread, a bit of its chemistry, and then get sidetracked with the great molasses flood of 1919.  If you are in the area, check out the gingerbread competition going on at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC.
